Someone may be wondering if God will accept them back after they have walked away from Him. The desire to serve God is there, and you know that in the House of God is where you belong. You’ve tried to fit your life into the ways of the world and have found it to be vain for you. You went after the men, friends, women, alcohol, and drugs but still have yourself wrestling in your mind without any peace.
You thought that the church was the problem, so you left, thinking you would do better without it. But you have come to find out that is not true. What you thought it would be like when you left is different from how you planned. You believed the lies from the devil, thinking you would be happier without God. That you were going to church too much, and it didn’t take all that to please God.
What you thought you were missing while you were in the church has turned out to be the very things you despise. The people, music, and drugs bring no peace to your life. You feel empty and have found nothing in this world to fill that void. And now you want to know if God will accept you if you return to Him? The answer is yes.
Jesus says in the eleventh chapter of Matthew,
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Jesus will give us the rest we have been longing to have. All we have to do is go to Him. To come means to move toward someone. We have to move towards or approach Him with a submissive heart and confess our sin. The bible lets us know,
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (KJV)
When we go confessing, we have to go believing. Believing that Jesus will forgive us because His Word said He would. We cannot be worried about what others may think or allow ourselves to doubt His Word.
One of the first things we must place in the Hands of the Lord along with our sins is our guilt. While it is good to feel guilty for the wrong we have done, we cannot move forth with Jesus with the heaviness of guilt in our hearts. We have to be willing to accept the grace of God along with the peace of God.
If you know God is pulling your heart towards Him to recommit your life to Him, surrender today. We do not know when we’ll take our last breath or when He is to return. Do not let that moment be the time you realize it is too late. Put your life back in God’s Hand.
Let us pray: Father God, I pray that by the Power of Your Spirit, the person reading this sees the love You have for them. I ask that You remove any doubt and fear that would cause them to hesitate to come to You. As they confess their sins to You Lord, I ask that You give them a greater resolve than before that they may serve You all their life and be ever determined to go all the way with You Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
